The local shops are just around the corner. They incude a late-night and Sunday mini-market, hairdressers, family chemist, pub, newsagent, coffee-house, launderette, dry cleaner, several good restaurants providing everything from snacks to haute cuisine, an antique horologist, a fantastic toyshop, four couturiers, including Jimmy Choo, and several art galleries.
A further 15 to 20 minutes walk into historic Mayfair and Bond Street takes you to The Royal Academy, and Piccadilly with Fortnums and Jermyn Street. One may then walk on to Theatreland, Chinatown, The National Gallery and the Charing Cross Road with its Antique Bookshops. A different 20 to 30 minute stroll across Hyde Park takes you to Buckingham Palace, Knightsbridge and Harrods. A further five minutes from Harrods and you reach the historic Oratory Church and four great Museums, the Victoria and Albert, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Museum of the Earth. All the above can be reached from Marble Arch by frequently running buses. The British Museum, the City of London and St. Paul's Cathedral are a short bus or train ride away, as are the Houses of Parliament and Westmimster Abbey.
